Mr. Parsons moved that said bill be made the special order Thursday next, immediately after the reading of the journal.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative, two-thirds of all the Senators present voting in favor thereof.

Mr. Barnett presented a petition of 600 citizens of Homer, Cortland county, for authority to borrow money on the credit of said town to rebuild their academy; which was read and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Wolcott presented twelve petitions of citizens of New York, for the passage of a law securing increased facilities for the transaction of business connected with the canals, railroads and rivers of this State; which were read and referred to the committee on canals.

Mr. Low presented a petition of citizens and trustees, resident taxpayers of the village of Goshen, for the passage of Assembly bill No. 51; which was laid on the table.

Also, two remonstrances of citizens of New York city, against laying railroad tracks in Mercer street; which were read and referred to the committee on railroads.
