Ordered, That the consideration of the report of the committee to whom was referred the resolution relating to the claims of the officers and soldiers of the Virginia line, on State and continental establishment, for bounty lands, be further postponed until Thursday next.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the bill entitled "An act making further provision for military services during the late war, and for other purposes."

Mr. Wilson having proposed an amendment thereto,

Ordered, That the further consideration of the bill, together with the proposed amendment, be postponed until to-morrow.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the amendments of the House of Representatives to the bill entitled "An act relative to evidence in cases of naturalization.”

Whereupon,

Resolved, That they concur therein.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

The amendments to the bill entitled "An act to authorize the payment for property lost, captured, or destroyed by the enemy, while in the military service of the United States," having

been reported by the committee correctly engrossed, the bill was read the third time as amended; and the blank filled.

The title was amended by adding thereto "and for other purposes."

Ordered, That the Secretary request the concurrence of the House of Representatives in the amendments.

The bill further extending the time for issuing and locating military land warrants, and for other purposes, having been reported by the committee correctly engrossed, was read a third time, and the blanks having been filled,

Resolved, That this bill pass, and that the title thereof be, "An act further extending the time for issuing and locating military land warrants, and for other purposes."

Ordered, That the Secretary request the concurrence of the House of Representatives in this bill.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the bill for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the Union, suppress insurrection, and repel invasion, and to repeal the laws heretofore passed for those purposes, together with the proposed amendment.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the bill dividing the State of Pennsylvania into two judicial districts.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 1816.

Mr. Roberts reported from the committee that they had examined and found duly enrolled, the bill entitled "An act relative to evidence in cases of naturalization;" also the bill entitled "An act to alter the times of holding the circuit and district courts of the United States for the district of Vermont."

Mr. Sanford presented the petition of John G. Goutsberger, of the city of New-York, praying the allowance of the drawback of duties on certain goods and merchandise, as stated in the petition; which was read.

On motion by Mr. Sanford,

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee appointed on so much of the message of the President of the United States as relates to finance and an uniform national currency, to consider and report thereon by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Tait, from the committee on naval affairs to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act for the relief of Erastus Loomis," reported it without amendment."

Mr. Wilson, from the committee to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act in addition to an act to regulate the post-office establishment," reported it with amendments; which were read.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the bill entitled "An act making further provision for military services during the late war, and for other purposes," together with the amendment proposed thereto, by Mr. Wilson, and

On the question to agree to the said amendment, as follows:

"Sec. Be it further enacted, That donations of land be granted to all the officers of the regular who have been disbanded as supernumeraries, either in consolidating regiments or corps during the late war, or in reducing the army conformably to the act of March the third, one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, as follows, to wit: to each major general, one thousand two hundred and eighty acres; to each brigadier general, one thousand one hundred and twenty acres; to each colonel and lieutenant colonel, nine hundred and sixty acres; to each major, eight hundred acres ; to each captain, six hundred and forty acres; to each subaltern, four hundred and eighty acres ; and to officers of the medical and other staff, who.

have no rank, in proportion to their pay, according to the scale aforesaid."

It was determined in the negative, yeas 10, nays 15.
