The journal of Friday, March 28, was read and approved. The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had concurred in the amendments of the Senate thereto:

"An act to changet he name of the justice's court of the city of Albany to the city court of Albany, to prescribe the manner of the appointment of the clerk thereof, and of marshals and attendants upon said court, to increase the jurisdiction thereof, to abolish the office of constable in the city of Albany, and to amend the charter of said city." Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Assembly.

Mr. Ellsworth, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Vedder, Int. No. 566, entitled "An act to authorize the Board of State Assessors to appoint a stenographer to report testimony and proceedings in certain cases," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

The President presented a communication from the Railroad Commissioners relative to the memorial of Charles T. Harvey, for an investigation as to injury to his rights by certain rapid transit legislation for the city of New York.

Mr. Murphy moved that said communication be referred to the committee on grievances.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the following entitled bills: "An act authorizing the town of Westchester to borrow money to improve therein highways," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on roads and bridges.
