The bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 471 of the Laws of 1853, entitled 'An act to amend an act entitled An act to provide for the incorporation and regulation of telegraph companies, passed April 12, 1848," having been announced for a third reading,

Mr. Ellsworth moved that said bill be laid aside and printed.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 598 of the Laws of 1870, entitled 'An act to amend an act to incorporate the city of Troy,' passed April 12, 1816, and the several acts amendatory thereof, and also to amend other acts relating to the city of Troy, and supplemental thereto," having been announced for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Comstock, and by unanimous consent, the same was amended as follows:

Section 1, line 104, after "which" insert "shall be published." Same section, line 108, after word "city," strike out" shall be published," and insert "except as is otherwise provided in section 6 of chapter 30 of the Laws of 1880."

Line 111, after "required," insert "by the common council."

Add at end of section 1, the words "before such designation is made by the common council."

Said bill, as amended, was then read the third time.
