The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act to authorize the construction of an iron bridge over the Genesee Valley canal, in the village of Nunda."

"An act to facilitate the construction of the Whitehall and Plattsburgh Railroad, and to authorize the issuing and guaranteeing of bonds."

"An act concerning the registration of voters in the city of New York, amending chapter 740 of the Laws of 1865, and 812 of the Laws of 1866." After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. H. C. Murphy, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. H. C. Murphy, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the second named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. H. C. Murphy, from the same committee, reported that they have made some amendments to the last named bill, and amended the title by adding thereto the words: "and to provide for payment of expenses of the special election of delegates to the convention to revise and amend the Constitution," and as amended, recommend its passage; which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading. The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to incorporate the Crosstown Railroad Company of the city of New York, and to authorize said company to construct and operate street railroads in said city."

"An act to amend and extend 'An act for the better protection of seamen in the port and harbor of New York,' passed March 21, 1866."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Barnett, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Barnett, from the same committee, reported progress on the last named bill, and asked leave to sit again.

Mr. H. C. Murphy moved that the Senate disagree with the report of the committee of the whole, and that the enacting clause be stricken out.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the negative.

The President then put the question whether the Senate would agree to grant the committee of the whole leave to sit again, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Chambers, the Senate took a recess until 7 o'clock,

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act releasing the interest of the State in certain lands and premises owned by Anthony Bollermann, Carl Bollermann or Joseph Bollermann, and authorizing their heirs at-law to hold and convey the same," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act for the suppression of the trade in and circulation of obscene literature, illustrations, advertisements and articles of indecent or immoral use, and obscene advertisements of patent medicines," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading. Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act passed 1853, chapter 117, entitled 'An act to authorize the formation of companies for the erection of buildings,'" with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to provide for the drainage of the low lands in the north part of the town of Amherst, in the county of Erie," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Harney his wife, and their children, to take and hold real estate, and releasing the title of the State by escheat in certain lands," with power to report complete, reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title so as to read: "An act to enable Ludovic de Noue and Elizabeth B. Harney his wife, and their children to take, hold and dispose of real estate," and as amended, report the same complete; which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act abolishing the mayor's court of the city of Albany," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Marsden, heirs-at-law of Henry H. Marsden, deceased," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act in relation to suits by and against joint stock companies and associations,' passed April 7, 1849, and authorizing such companies and corporations to purchase and hold real estate," with power to report complete, reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title so as to read "An act to authorize joint stock companies and associations to purchase and hold real estate," and as amended, report the same complete and recommend its passage; which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Barnett, from the committee on charitable and religious societies, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act further to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Provident Fund Society of the city of New York,' passed April 14, 1857," reported, and asked to be discharged from the further consideration of the same, and that it be referred to the committee on insurance; which report was agreed to. Mr. O'Donnell, from the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act autho-rizing the board of supervisors of St. Lawrence county to raise by tax upon said county a sum sufficient to refund to such towns as have furnished relief under section 21, chapter 8 of the Laws of 1864, such sums as they have respectively expended," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. O'Donnell, from the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend section 3 of an act passed March 30, 1866, entitled 'An act for the preservation of fish in Kinderhook lake, and water adjacent thereto,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Pierson, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the Commissioners of the Land Office to make a grant of lands under water to David and Reuben Miller, at Livingston station on the Hudson River Railroad, for the purpose of constructing a dock," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole. Mr. Pierson, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act in relation to the Mott Haven Ferry, authorized by chapter 757 of the Laws of 1865, and to limit the charter thereof," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole. By unanimous consent, Mr. O'Donnell asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act authorizing the preparation of a Manual for the use of the Convention to revise and amend the Constitution," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Folger asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act authorizing St. Luke's Hospital to convey certain lands for the benefit of the trustees of St. Luke's Retreat," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Andrews asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled ‘An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the village of Ilion,' passed March 8, 1865," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to authorize certain cities and towns in the counties of Schenectady, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington, to issue bonds and take stock in the Mohawk and Susquehanna Railroad," reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title by striking out the words "Montgomery, Rensselaer and Washington," and as amended, recommend its passage; said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to authorize the town of Queensbury, in the county of Warren, to issue bonds to aid in the construction of a railroad from the village of Glens Falls to intersect the Saratoga and Whitehall Railroad," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the consolidation of the Maspeth Avenue and Toll Bridge Company, and the Williamsburgh and Newtown Railroad Company into one corporation," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to authorize the villages of Sandy Hill and Fort Edward, in the county of Washington, to issue bonds to aid in the construction of a railroad from the village of Glen's Falls, to intersect the Saratoga and Whitehall Railroad in the village of Fort Edward," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.
