Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on roads and bridges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the Johnstown and Pleasant Valley Plankroad Company to abandon their road, and declaring said road a public highway," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on roads and bridges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the commissioners of highways of the town of Pamelia, in the county of Jeffer son, to raise money to build a bridge over the north branch of Black river," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

On motion of Mr. Parsons and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to legalize and confirm the acts of a town meeting of the town of Chili, in the county of Monroe, and of the officers of said town in paying to certain volunteers from said town, certain moneys belonging to said town," was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act relating to schools in the town of Seneca Falls," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to provide for taking testimony to be used in certain cases," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Pierson, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to open a square to be known as Lafayette square, in the city of Brooklyn," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Pierson, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the city of Brooklyn to raise money by tax to meet the deficiencies for sanitary and other purposes," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the trustees of Metropolitan Hall of Hornellsville," reported by resolution, as follows:

Resolved, That the committee on municipal affairs be discharged from the further consideration of the same, and that it be referred to the judiciary committee.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to amend the several acts incorporating the village of Pulaski, in the county of Oswego," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Wolcott and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee with power to report complete.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to incorporate The New York Patro

leum Storage and Transportation Company,"" reported by resolution, as follows:

Resolved, That the committee on municipal affairs be discharged from the further consideration of the same, and that it be referred to the judiciary committee.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to provide for the laying out of streets and roads in the city of Newburgh, and for other purposes," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibson, from the committee on claims, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act for the relief of Isaac Sparks," reported in writing, and adversely thereto.

Mr. Kline moved to lay the question of agreeing to the report of the committee upon the table.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to lay on the table, and it was decided in the negative.

The President then put the question whether the Senate would agree to the report of the committee, and it was decided in the affirmative. Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Assembly, with a message informing of the non-concurrence of the Senate in its passage.

Mr. Gibson, from the committee on claims, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act for the relief of Arby Shoop," reported in writing, and adversely thereto, which report was agreed to and said bill rejected.

Mr. Godard, from the committee on militia and public defense, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to provide for the construction of an Armory for the Thirtieth Regiment," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Wilbor, from the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to suppress intemperance and to regulate the sale of intoxicating liquor in the county of Dutchess," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. White, from the committee on literature, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act authorizing the formation of a new school district in the town of Salina, in the county of Onondaga, to be called school district No. 6, of said town," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. White, from the committee on literature, to which was referred the petition of the board of education in Baldwinsville, for permission to raise money for school site and building; reported by bill entitled "An act to authorize the board of education of the Baldwinville Union School district to borrow money," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Kline, from the committee on manufactures, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 37 of the Laws of 1848, entitled 'An act to authorize the formation of gas light companies," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the

petition of citizens of Ulster and Orange, for an act to issue bonds and take stock in Wallkill Valley Railroad Company; reported by bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to authorize certain towns in the counties of Ulster and Orange, to issue bonds and take stock in the Wallkill Valley Railroad," passed May 9, 1866," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the West Side Elevated Suspension Railway Company," reported adversely thereto, which report was agreed to and said bill rejected.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act in relation to railroad corporations," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to whom was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 444 of the Laws of 1857, entitled 'An act further to amend the act entitled 'An act to authorize the formation of railroad corporations and to regulate the same,' passed April 2d, 1850,'" reported adversely thereto which report was agreed to and said bill rejected.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Assembly, with a message informing of the non-concurrence of the Senate in its passage.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment, to wit:

"An act to authorize the construction of a railroad in Broadway, Lexington avenue, and certain other streets and avenues in the city of New York."

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had non-concurred in the amendments of the Senate thereto: "An act to provide for the completion of the unfinished business of the office of the surrogate of the county of Orange."

Mr. Folger moved that the Senate insist upon its amendments. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative:

Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate insist upon its amendments.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had non-concurred in the amendments of the Senate thereto:

"An act to regulate and increase the salaries of certain members of the Capital Police force, and to provide for the payment thereof."

Mr. Collins moved that the Senate insist upon its amendments to the said entitled bill, and that a committee of conference be appointed on the part of the Senate, and a like committee requested on the part of the Assembly.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Messrs. Colllins, Gibson and Stanford, were appointed as such committee on the part of the Senate.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate insist on their amendments, and request a committee of conference, and have appointed one on their part.
