The Assembly returned the following entitled bills, with messages that they had concurred in the passage of the same, respectively: "An act to amend chapter 220 of the Laws of 1866, entitled 'An act to amend the charter of the village of Saratoga Springs,' and the several acts amendatory thereof."

Mr. Baker moved that the Senate do now adjourn until to-morrow evening at 8 o'clock.

Mr. McCarthy moved to reconsider the vote concurring in amendments of Assembly to Senate bill, No. 208, entitled "An act making. an appropriation for the payment of awards made by the Board of Claims."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the Senators elected voting in favor thereof, as follows:

On motion of Mr. McCarthy, and by unanimous consent, said bill was further amended as follows:

Section 1, line 7, strike out "fourteen thousand and sixty" and insert "twenty-four thousand two hundred and seventy-seven dollars and eighty-one cents."

Add at the end of section 1 the following:

"For James H. Hoose for salaries of Professor Hoose, as principal, and Thomas B. Stowell and others, as teachers, in the Cortland Normal and Training School, ten thousand two hundred and seventeen dollars and eighty-one cents, awarded by said board January 22, 1884." The President put the question whether the Senate would concur in said amendments, as further amended, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the Senators elected voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths being present, as follows:

No. 660, entitled "An act to authorize and direct the comptroller of the city of New York to pay the salary of John A. Stemmler as justice of the district court in the city of New York for the Seventh Judicial District," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and,

On motion of Mr. Plunkitt, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act directing the commissioners of charities and correction of the city of New York to establish an hospital in the upper part of said city," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the Assembly bill, entitled "An act to amend chapter 410 of the Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to consolidate into one act and to declare the special and local laws affecting public interests in the city of New York,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the city of Buffalo to convert school property in school district No. 16, in that city, into money, constituting a fund to be used in purchasing a lot and building a new school-house in said district. Also authorizing any moneys in the school fund standing to the credit of that district to be used for and appropriated to same purpose," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Esty, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Kiernan, Int. No. 697, entitled "An act to incorporate the United States Transfer and Exchange Association," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

The Assembly bill entitled "An act reappropriating money for the payment of sums due to contractors for new work and extraordinary repairs on the canals, and to pay the certificates and drafts issued therefor," was read the third time.
